OSPF LSA Type 1

LSA Type 1 — Router LSA

I only talk about myself.

01Plain English

The simple explanation

A router introduces its links to the area. Think of a local status update: these are my connections.

02Under the hood

The technical explanation

Every OSPFv2 router originates a Router LSA for each area it participates in. It describes link types, costs and relevant router capabilities. Flooding scope is the area. The Link State ID is the originating router’s router ID.

Protocol reference: RFC 2328 (OSPFv2). NSSA reference: RFC 3101.
